FROZEN SHOULDER



Also called adhesive capsulitis. Frozen shoulder is a painful condition. In which the capsules  are thickened and tightened. The shoulder becomes stiff and inflammed, the shoulder movement become limited.
Frozen shoulder is mostly common in 40 to 70 age old and found in almost in women, the cases are one million  per year in India.


Causes - Its include cardiovascular disease, changes in hormones during menopause, shoulder injury, diabetes, hypothyroidism, Parkinson’s disease.
The shoulder joint is enclosed in capsules of connective tissue in which condition the pain happens at night and in some people at sleeping time. The shoulder is not freely movable.

Stages of frozen shoulder -
Freezing painful stage -pain in night and at sleeping time (3 to 6 month).
Frozen stiffness stage -pain and stiffness; and inflammation (6 to 12 month).
Thrawing recovery stage -pain and stiffness stopped and movement restart (12 to 18 month).

Prevention - The frozen shoulder can be prevented by some exercises and use of electrotherapy in frozen shoulder. Such as electrical devices -tens,
ultrasound ,infrared radiation.And as needed anti- inflammatory drugs.
risk factor rotator cuff injury ,broken arm ,stroke.
